2011 NorthStar Juventus - USA Cup

This team, which is comprised mostly of the same boys that went to the Gothia Cup in Sweden 2 years ago just got back from participating in the
USA Cup in Blaine, Minnesota. The were almost 1000 teams from over 18 countries, representing age groups from U10 – U19 participating in the tournament.
Our boys competed in the U19 category in the “Silver” flight with 11 other teams from the US, Canada & Brazil. Out of this group of 11 teams
they made it all the way to the finals, losing in a heartbreaking match against a local (Minnesota) team. A large group of parents, along with our coach,
Dalip Nagassar, travelled with the boys. It was a very successful and enjoyable experience.

NorthStar's First Womens' Team

NorthStar Soccer is proud to have entered its first team into the Calgary Womens Soccer Association (CWSA) for the 2009 Outdoor Season.
The NorthStar Supreme includes 25 players, most of whom played their minor years with NorthStar Soccer.
The team currently plays within Division 6C and plans to continue playing in the 2010 Outdoor Season.

Congratulations NorthStar BU10 Falcons!
The U10 boys captured the Silver Medal at the 2009 Spring Cup, March 7-18.
This was a nice closure for the 2008/2009 Indoor season because of the great team effort.
It has been a really challenging season for everyone and special thanks to Trent Hunter and Victor Ogoke
for helping me as a coach during the season and of course, big thanks to Melonie Michaud for acting as a Manager of our team.

NorthStar Chaos Win BU16 Boy's Provincial Championship!
The Chaos returned from Edmonton as the 2009 Provincial Champions. The boy's season was capped
with a 3 to 1 victory over Sherwood Park. This victory marked the thirteenth consecutive win for the team.

NorthStar's Gold Medal Girls!
The U18 girls captured the Gold Medal and President's Cup
Trophy at the CMSA President's Cup Tournament held over the May 17-19th long
weekend. The team roster was a blend of NorthStar's two GU18 Comp A
teams, Storm and Blaze. Three straight wins, allowing no goals against,
ensured the team would face CMCA Memorial United in the Gold Medal
match. A great team effort led to a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

Medal & Tournament Winners
Dana Cup tournament in Hjorring, Denmark
On July 19 2005, 15 players and 7 coaches/chaperones of the NorthStar U17 boys Strikers departed Calgary for a two week trip to Denmark to participate in the Dana Cup Soccer Tournament and to tour Denmark. This day was the culmination of 8 months of fund raising and planning by players, coaches and parents. The purpose of the trip was to introduce the players to international competition while at the same time experiencing another culture. In preparation for the tournament, the team participated in several exhibition games in coach Kris Nielsen's hometown of Bramming against teams from the Bramming and Esbjerg soccer clubs. After this warm up, the team traveled to Hjorring in northern Denmark for the Dana Cup. The Dana Cup is the second largest youth international soccer tournament in the world with over 770 boys and girls teams from 37 countries playing in age groups from U11 to U19. Teams traveled from Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Africa, North America and Europe.
The level of competition was very high. Playing in the U17 age group against teams from Norway, Sweden and Mexico, the Strikers' final record was 1 win, 1 tie, 3 losses, numerous new friendships and an unforgettable life experience. The players learned from each game and dramatically improved their individual and team skills with each game. The team would like to thank all those in the community who contributed to the fund raising activities and to Gord Smith from the Varsity Community Association for his assistance in applying for a provincial grant from Alberta Lottery Fund which was used to subsidize travel costs. We would also like to thank the NorthStar Organization for their support. The Strikers encourage other teams to consider similar trips. Check out www.danacup.com to see results and pictures.

The GU14 Eclipse team gained prominence in Division 3bb by winning gold medals for the regular season "playoff round" and at the Inter-Cities 'A' championships in Edmonton. They also captured a Tier 'B' gold medal at the February Family Day Tournament by linking up with six NorthStar Rush players.

2004 NorthStar Soccer Outdoor Season
"NorthStar Soccer's First Season"NorthStar Soccer is the blending of the Dalhousie and Varsity City League (CMSA) soccer programs. This past outdoor season, NorthStar Soccer offered programs for ages under 10 (U10) through under 16 (U16) for girls and boys. More teams in each category, representing a broader spectrum of skill level within each age category, is the most significant of the many improvements which resulted from the unification of the two smaller community programs.
NorthStar Soccer entered 27 teams in the 2004 outdoor CMSA leagues. Eight of our teams participated in championships this past September.
